Portuguese soprano Susana Vieira completed her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London, United Kingdom), under the tutelage of Susan Waters and a scholarship holder from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. She was a student at the Oporto Music Conservatory completing her studies with distinction in 2015. In 2016, she studied at the Hochschüle für Musik und Teather (Munich, Germany).

Susana Vieira made her debut at Teatro Nacional de São Carlos as Foreign Princess in “Rusalka” by A. Dvořák, under the direction of Graeme Jenkins and, later, as Lover in “Il Tabarro” by G. Puccini, under the direction of Antonio Pirolli. Other roles include Lambisca in “A vingança da cigana” by A. Leal Moreira, D. Clóris in “As guerras de alecrim e mangerona” by António T. Silva; Dido in “Dido and Aeneas” by H. Purcell and Ruggerio in “Alcina” by G. F. Händel. In Guildhall School Opera scenes, Susana has sung the roles of Armide in “Armide” by Jean-Baptiste Lully; 2nd Lady in “Die Zauberflöte” by W.A.Mozart and Clytemnestre in “Iphigénie en Aulide” by C.Gluck.

She has won the Portuguese Music Prize at the National Contest of Official Conservatories (2013); the Lisbon Conservatory Prize, Pre-Superior category (2014); 3rd prize in the International Competition, City of Fundão (2014); 1st prize in the Internal Competition of the CMP (2015); BPI Grant Award (2015) and 3rd prize in the VIII Concurso Internacional de Canto Alfredo Kraus (2021).

Susana has worked with international music figures such as Tobias Truninger, Claire Rutter, Christiane Iven, Teg Ganger, Sarah Walker, Michael McMahon, Elena Filipova, Ann Murray, Jonathon Swinard, Birgid Steinberger, Claudia Patacca, Elisabete Matos, Palmira Troufa and Susan Waters.

Susana is a co-founder of the ‘Virtual Opera Studio‘, a group dedicated to support virtual performances, and offers virtual opportunities for singers around the world.
